Followed to your blog from Jenny's and must say I totally enjoyed reading your post. It's not soley and Australian cultural anomaly.....the numbing of individual personality. With advances in technology making the world smaller, it seems that instead of celebrating the wealth of information we now have at our fingertips to learn about different cultures and people, people have become more insular and close-minded and scared to voice speak their minds' for fear of labels. Speak your heart is what I've always said - even when it's not what the rest of the world wants to hear.
I love the pictures of the flowers. It's interesting to see that you have some of the same problems in Australia that we have in the US. My church has been promoting a program of "Stand up for your beliefs." Remember that saying, if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything? Or maybe that was just in country and western American music. =)
Gorgeous photo's Mark - Looking forward to seeing where you two end up this Sunday
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona. No pressure on us then - hahaha

ReplyDeleteWell said Thoeria. There is some strange sought of tribal mentality spurred on by social media. Thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark for your thought provoking post, remember the song "Little Boxes"?
ReplyDeleteLittle Boxes. Gee that takes me back. A folk-song about middle class conformity, if I remember correctly. Thanks Heather.

ReplyDeleteHow very true is that old saying - if you stand for nothing you will fall for anything.
